Valentine’s Day Home Refresh
Valentine’s day inspired mantle featuring antique pieces and dried florals.
I made the switch from winter decor to Valentine’s day this week. Decorating for Valentine’s day can be a challenge. I never used to decorate for the occasion although I enjoy now as it gives a nice break from the long winter months of decor. Lately I have been going for simple touches or pinks and adding in romantic antique pieces.
I enjoy using flowers and greenery when styling as much as I can. To me, it is a nice space filler along with adding a homey touch. Here I added bouquets of dried flowers and simple flower stems to amplify the valentine’s day feel. I also incorporated live plants to my table scape as seen here.
For our mantle I have a DIY paper heart garland and snow inspired yarn garland. This keeps the winter feel yet adds a romantic touch. I also incorporated a few spring inspired pieces such as the watering cans and vintage goose. To amplify the watering cans I added pink and purple colored florals to them. This allows them to act like a vase. I also incorporated antique frames to our mantle and used free printable art pieces to fill them. Then I filled in the gaps with more dried flowers.
I also did a quick refresh of our antique mirror which you can see below. I used dried hydrangeas that I had picked in the fall when they were pink. I styled them to flow around the top edge of the mirror and filled in the gaps with smaller pieces. I love that it elevates the piece and gives it an organic feel. I also incorporated another dried stem that is wispy and pink to the edge of the mirror.
